Photographers!
So what's the one thing that lasts past the wedding day and captures all your memories? The pictures!

From: http://www.oncewed.com/
Choosing a photographer is going to be very hard. We had a photographer in mind, she is out of Lincoln, NE but turns out she is just to expensive. But she is amazing! SO, hopefully we can find one here in KC. We have contacted a few and can't wait to meet with them.
I don't want the classic, posed pictures. I actually despise those pictures. We are looking for the documentary style. We also want to have an area like a photo booth! I can't wait to find out who we will go with!
ALSO, I really think that the beauty in pictures is in the details!
Here are some pics I love:

We have a reception venue...
Well this turned out to be a much easier decision than previously anticipated. We found this little joint on the web and fell in LOVE. Well, I fell in love and managed to convince all others in the decision making process to fall in love with it too! Its a RED BARN. I mean who couldn't fall in love with a RED BARN. Maybe its a little of the country girl side of me, but who cares I love it.
Also, it manages to fit our needs pretty well. It fits about 300 people, which is roughly the amount of people we think will come. However, in order to only have 300, the popular one/celebrity of this wedding will need to cut down his invites. Every time I ask him how many, the number creeps up more and more!!;)
Also, they allow you to bring your own caterer, alcohol, etc. Bringing our own caterer will allow us to stay within budget a little bit easier. Also, the alcohol part was what sold us. Since we are both former bartenders, the alcohol must be perfect! More details to come...
I LOVE THIS RED BARN!
This is one of many places we looked for online. We really had to search around for this one, and lucked out that they hadn't been booked up yet. It was interesting when looking at venues the way that they hook you with a ton of costs. At least with the Lodge, they tell you exactly how much it will cost. A lot of the places had catering minimums, fees for people on site, etc. I'm sure this is common but a little annoying.
We have a Church...
We are getting married at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Church in Wea, KS. Its about 20 mins south of Overland Park. Not too far. This church means a whole heck of a lot to me and my family! To start, pretty much my entire family has been married in this church, including my parents and aunts & uncles! I don't know if you know, but its a pretty big deal!
As a child I spent sooo much time here, sometimes against my will. Sunday school, mass, adoration, the bazaar's, weddings, baptisms, confirmations, etc. This church means a lot to me and I am soo excited, that Matt and his family get to enjoy it with my family, if not just for one day! The most important day!

We are getting married!!!!
BF and I are getting married May 7, 2011. I am transforming this blog into a way to gather all my thoughts. I see things that I like on blogs and in magazines all the time and I need a place to keep my ideas in order.
Also, there are really no great blogs for brides in Kansas City. I hope I can keep it up, because I really think that the ladies in KC need a place to find resources for different things. I am not a writer and don't pretend to be one. I am not really inspirational either. Just looking for answers while we are planning our wedding!

Lincoln, NE - A Great Weekend Getaway...
2 weekends ago, Matt and I traveled to Lincoln to catch-up with friends and family. We both went to college in Lincoln. It can be a great little weekend trip from Kansas City, especially during football season, talk about die hard fans! We love them Huskers! Here are a few things to see and do when visiting Lincoln:
- Eat at Bison Witches - great place to grab a sandwich for lunch! A total local joint with some of the best food! Also they have a ton of beers to try and lots of drink specials.

- Go to a Husker Football game if its football season!
- Head over to the Sunken Gardens in the morning with a cup of coffee.
- Walk around Downtown Lincoln for great shopping. Mainly little boutiques like Stella and Post and Nickel.
- For Dinner head down to the Haymarket. There are great restaurants such as Lazlo's, El Potrero and Vincenzo's. There are also fun events in the Haymarket during the summer and you can always watch the Husker's during football season. Also, they have a farmers market set-up on Saturday mornings.

- If you have time, go to James Arthur Vineyard for a wine tasting. It is just north of Lincoln.
There is a lot more to do in Lincoln, but these are a few of my highlights! It is an easy getaway from Kansas City, only a 3 hour drive!
